Address at the South African Institute of International Affairs

"Our vision of the new South Africa is therefore of a country at peace with itself, a country at long last reconciled to its cultural and racial diversity. White South Africans, Black South Africans, Asiatic South Africans and Coloured South Africans and all without exception, must be allowed to feel that all of South Africa is their home. How can or should it be otherwise? South Africa is your common heritage. You have pooled your energies - all of you - to build it. You have shed your precious blood and poured our your sweat and tears - all of you - to transform this vast land into what it is today. And in opposing its folly of Apartheid you struggled together." - Dr. Salim, February 28, 1994
