Statement at the Fourth African - African American Summit

  • Share

"African countries are seriously engaged on the path to recovery and development. In fact, for almost a decade now, Africa has been trying to put its house in order, to pull itself out of the quagmire it has found itself in. Our leaders have committed themselves to address with renewed determination the scourge of conflicts in the Continent and to forge the much needed atmosphere of peace, security and stability in the Continent. In this respect, they have also committed themselves [o move forward with the process of democratization and building institutions to sustain democracy, good governance and respect for human rights in the Continent." - Dr. Salim, July 21, 1997
