Statement at the African Summit on HIV-AIDS, Tuberculosis and other Related Infectious Diseases

  • Share

"Let this summit be an expression and a symbol of our commitment to our people. Let us reaffirm our collective will to overcome HIV/AIDS and other major infectious diseases. Let our international partners know that Africa is ready and willing to tackle this scourge with all our might and energy. There is no turning back. Nothing we do in our lifetime is now more important for the future generations of Africans than to throw everything we have into stopping the HIV/AIDS pandemic." - Dr. Salim, April 26, 2001
