Statement at the 72nd Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers

"The ugly scourge of conflict continues to ravage the Continent despite the ardent efforts exerted by our leaders and peoples. Almost a decade since we conceived the idea of establishing a Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution, African people continue to suffer and die, and in some cases, in a gruesome manner due to divergences of ideals, perspectives, and even differences of identities." - Dr. Salim, July 6, 2000
