Remarks at the Indian School Day Celebrations

"My association with India has been a long standing one. I undertook my college education at the University of Delhi while serving as the Tanzanian High Commissioner to India. During that time and in later years also, covering a span of almost forty years, I've had numerous opportunities to interact with various strata of Indian Society including Indian leaders at the highest level. I have also been paying periodic visits to the country in one capacity or another. This year alone I have been twice to New Delhi - the last visit being almost a week or so ago. These interactions have only deepened the admiration I have for the richness and diversity of Indian culture, for its ancient civilization and for the tremendous stride that Indi ahas made in the socio-economic and technological fields." - Dr. Salim, July 11, 2004
