“The General Assembly, in its wisdom, decided to uphold this challenge and rejected the credentials of the apartheid regime. The international community, by its decision, clearly served warning to the Fascist rulers in Pretoria that they cannot claim to have the right to represent the people of South Africa.” - Dr. Salim, December 8, 1972

Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim, representing Tanzania at the United Nations General Assembly in December 1972, delivers a powerful speech challenging the credentials of apartheid South Africa and rejecting the legitimacy of the Lon Nol regime in Cambodia.

Speaking during the 27th Session of the UN General Assembly, Dr. Salim condemns apartheid as a violation of human rights and calls on the international community to uphold the principles of representation, decolonization, and justice.
