An Evening with President Nyerere and President Mwinyi

"It was a rare and a unique opportunity and honour for Amne and I to have both the CCM Party Chairman, Mwalimu Nyerere and President Mwinyi at our house. It was significant to have both of them together. The dinner also had a special significance. In August this year Mwalimu retires as Party Chairman and thus this is his last visit to Addis Abba while still holding the post of CCM Chairman.

The dinner was a warm and close family gathering so to say. President Mwinyi arrived at our Residence at 2015hrs and Mwalimu arrived at 20:20hrs. The drinks and dinner that followed lasted until 2230 hours. And by 2240hrs both Mwalimu and President Mwinyi had left for their respective hotels." Dr. Salim, July 8, 1990.
