"One rather historic encounter today was my meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Mr. Shimon Perez. I say historic because to my knowledge since the 1973 October (Ra...Yom Kipur war) this was the first ever official meeting between the Secretary General of the OAU and a Foreign Minister of Israel. And for me personally this was also the first time that in my capacity, I have had formal meetings with an Israeli Minister.
