On December 6, 1979 Dr. Salim received an invitation by Mrs. Corretta Scott King to present at the Ebenezar Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia in honor of the birthday of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. Salim was asked to speak on self-determination for developing third and fourth world nations and the impact Dr. King had on the struggle for freedom and independence. 

Mrs. King was one of the most influential African-American women leaders and key member of the American Civil Rights Movement.
